PROBERTA, Calif. — For residents without reliable access to a car, the Tehama Rural Area eXpress (TRAX) network provides a way to travel between rural Highway 99 communities and larger destinations for work, groceries and medical appointments.
The transit authority’s official 2026 route directory lists Route 3A between Red Bluff, Los Molinos and Gerber and the complementary Route 3B connecting the same corridor in the opposite direction. A regional social-services directory also names Proberta among the unincorporated areas served along Highways 99E and 99W.
Where to board
The current Route 3A schedule names stops such as Gerber Market, Tehama Museum, 99E and Grant and St. Elizabeth Hospital in Red Bluff. Route 3B lists a stop across from Gerber Public Works and other connections. Neither posted route summary should be interpreted as a guarantee of a designated stop at every Proberta address.
TRAX says buses may sometimes be flagged down along approved routes where the driver can stop safely. Riders should first verify a suitable pickup location, direction and latest schedule with dispatch. Never step into the travel lane to stop a bus.
Access to essential services
Regional bus connections matter in small communities that lack their own hospital, county benefit office or large shopping district. Specialized transportation options may also be available for eligible riders with disabilities.
Tehama Rural Area eXpress lists 530-385-2877 for schedule information. Use Route 3A, Route 3B and the TRAX website to confirm fares, service days and accessibility before traveling.
