Gerber Park Near Proberta Offers Accessible Picnic Areas, Sports Courts and a Playground

PROBERTA, Calif. — Residents of Proberta who want nearby outdoor recreation can find a county-maintained public park in neighboring Gerber with picnic facilities, playground equipment and spaces for sports.

According to Tehama County Parks, Gerber Park is at 520 Mariposa Avenue, Gerber, CA 96035, east of the Highway 99W and San Benito Avenue area.

What the park has

The county describes an accessible restroom and parking facilities, plus picnic areas with tables and barbecue grills. The east picnic circle has five tables and two small grills; the west circle has four tables and a larger group grill.

The park also has a basketball court, a volleyball area and a multipurpose field with soccer goals and a baseball area. The playground is located toward the east side near parking and restrooms.

Public access and accessibility

Tehama County says the park’s picnic areas are ADA accessible and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. That does not guarantee a particular table will be vacant or that every program or sports field is available for organized use at any given time.

Visitors planning a large gathering should ask the county about rules, maintenance, reservations and any temporary closures before bringing a group. Bring drinking water, check the weather and follow posted fire-safety restrictions around grills.
